General Rules of Omaha Poker

The big difference between Omaha and Holdem are the number of private cards. In the game of Omaha Poker there are 4 private down-cards dealt. Two of the down cards must be used to create the poker hand. There are 4 dealing rounds (4 down-cards, 3 community cards, 2x1 community card). Each of the dealing rounds is followed by a betting round. After the final betting round, the remaining players (each betting round a player can fold) compare their poker hands to decide who won the pot. In the game of Omaha 8 or Better at Empire Poker, the pot is split between the best High hand and the best Low hand. For a Low hand a player must qualify or else all of the pot goes to the High hand. To qualify a player needs a five-card hand with all different numerical values from Ace through Eight.
